AIJV presents courses by Bill Hoefer, an esteemed appraiser and appraisal-practice teacher. The courses serve personal property appraisers, especially gem and jewelry appraisers, whether experienced or aspiring.
All are built for U.S. appraisers and grounded in legal precedents. They go beyond any core program in our field.
All courses are online, self-paced and continuously updated as standards evolve. You get deeper knowledge and a current dynamic reference that you can trust.
There are three programs on offer;
1- Insurance Appraisal Course
Build a strong foundation in ethics, valuation theory, and professional standards. This course prepares you to confidently take on insurance-related appraisal assignments—including policy placement, casualty loss, and dispute resolution—while reinforcing your role as a trusted professional in the field.
2- Advanced Personal Property Appraisal (APPA) Course
Take your appraisal expertise to the next level while studying appraisal theory and procedure based on legal precedence. This in-depth course is both a practical guide to state by state legislation and a reference tool, covering advanced standards, ethics, and proven methodologies used by experienced and credentialed personal property appraisers.
APPA goes beyond any previous core-level program. You will be taught the skills to deliver well-supported reports for both routine assignments and complex, high-level appraisal tasks—setting a new standard for professional excellence.
Handle a wide range of assignments with confidence, including insurance, estate planning, tax matters, government work, and legal disputes—all while learning to work with maximum efficiency and credibility.
3- Expert Witnessing for Appraisers
Whether you're handling routine insurance appraisals or complex valuation assignments, sooner or later, you'll be called to testify. In today’s litigious environment, every report must be defensible and legally sound.
This course prepares you to meet the expectations of the legal system with clarity and confidence. You'll learn how to present your opinions professionally, remain impartial, and support the truth—without becoming an advocate.
